Measure your finger motor speed and neuromuscular throughput on mobile with ReflexLab.
Unlike a reaction time test, which measures how quickly you respond to a signal, a tap speed test (often called a CPS or Clicks Per Second test) measures your motor speed. It's a test of neuromuscular throughput — how fast your nervous system can repeatedly fire the same motor command to your finger muscles.
In many competitive gaming scenarios, being able to execute rapid, stable inputs is just as important as having a fast initial reaction. Tap speed tests are used both in gaming benchmarking and as a fundamental measure of motor control.
ReflexLab's Rapid Fire mode is a 3-second motor speed burst. Once the signal starts, you tap the screen as many times as you can before the timer runs out. To ensure a fair measure of motor speed, ReflexLab enforces single-finger tapping — you cannot use multiple fingers to "cheat" the score.
The app also features a heat and combo system that rewards stable, rhythmic tapping. This provides a more nuanced look at your motor control than a simple raw tap count.
ReflexLab rates your performance across 6 in-game tiers based on your 3-second tap count.
For most people, an average tap speed on a mobile device is between 4 and 5.5 taps per second (roughly 12-16 taps in 3 seconds). Trained gamers often achieve 7-8 taps per second (21-24 taps). Reaching the SUPERHUMAN tier (10.6+ taps per second) requires exceptional motor speed and consistent training.
Factors that affect your score include finger fatigue, the size of your device, and the responsiveness of your screen's touch digitizer.
